Of course, this would void your warranty.
the four screws are under the rubber pads |
As expected the microphone is in the base, not below the lens |
JTAG connector (J2) |
2 speakers, one on each side of the base |
Screws are concealed behind these plastic pieces |
Only in cases of serious focus problem, theses long screw may help to re-focus. To be done with the camera connected to see the change in real time. |
As seen before, this microphone cover is purely cosmetic |

can you check if the fw supports WiFi channels 12 & 13 (as most cheap chinese ip cams don't)?
and maybe post a bootlog (on openipcam.org)?
thanks
@schufti
Mine is currently connected to a ZyXELL router on Channel 12.
I'll have to plug it one day for the bootlog, but then I'll post it. It's likely to be very similar to the FI8908W.
Openipcam is in good hand if you're the schufti from openwrt and macsat forums (just sold my wmu6000fs last week)
Cheers!
Hi,
this is good news. Another manufacturer that cares about europe ...
yes, the very same,
schufti
(p.s. seems to me that intex doesn't exist any longer)
Sorry to hijack this thread, but do you think this is a good deal:
http://www.groupon.be/deals/deal-national/mygadgetsandgifts/1604818
€49 for an unknown PTnZ camera...
Looks like a clone of the Apexis APM-J802-WS
The price is attractive (if they don't catch up with the shipping fees).
Hopefully the software is recent enough as there will likely be no fw upgrade.
Also found it here (but seriously overpriced)
Cheers!
hmmm missed those shipping fees :-/
Ah never mind then, I can get a no-name no-upgrades camera cheaper from dealextreme, with comments from people that bought one before.
Thanks for checking it out! :-)

DO you know what kind of "OS" this cam is using?
it's Linux-based like most of them.
hello,
i recently bought a Neo Coolcam NIP-09BHEW3A2Z3 ip camera (ptz + 3x optical zoom).
web software is crappy, there is no newer firmware, there is no option to focus !!!
manual says that there is a ring on the lens (but there is not), reseller says that i can adjust focus via the software (but there is no option)..
before adjusting focus with the long screws, as you describe, how can you normally adjust it ?
take a look at mine, i think there is something missing..

http://ye-olde.net/tmp/camera-2.jpg
It normally shouldn't need adjusting as it is a varifocal lens (the focus changes with the zoom). One of mines was out of focus and, since there's no focus ring, I had to open the lens casing and play around with the screws, while keeping the camera connected so I could see the result in real time.
take a look at this capture:

did you figure it out yet (same problem here)
Dear Bubbah,
I have found your blog and for me is quite usefull for the issue I have.
In short: Bricked camera QF001 ESCAM, technician of the escam suggested to update the firmware, because pan tilt zoom functionality stopped working.
Update was unsuccessful, suggested to be done via web, I have read that is risky, unfortunately afterwards. I would like to know whther you have any idea of steps for debricking the camera? Camera is similar to that one in your post: http://www.gadgetvictims.com/2011/10/inside-views-of-dericam-m801w.html
I have new firmware, with long name, which was rejected by the software, so I renamed it. Not sure whether the problem was caused by this issue.
I have tried to connect to the camera via LAN cable and 2 leds are blinking, however did not manage to identify the IP address of the camera. Tried with default address 192.168.1.10- nothing again. Can you share your experience with me?
I have opened the camera and there are some pins, which might suggest JTAG connector.
Hello, this IP cam very likely has a JTAG port and it is not too difficult to upload a firmware this way. I have a page that explains the method: http://www.gadgetvictims.com/2009/12/bring-your-fi8908w-paperweight-back-to.html
The most difficult part is to obtain a compatible recovery firmware because it is not the same file format as the one you would apply via the web interface. But you know that already as I see you've been on openipcam.com which was a good place to try. Maybe you 'll get some luck asking Escam directly -> support@escam.cn
Dear, Bubbah,
Thank you for the respose.
I have seen this page and found it very valuable.
Based on your page, I requested USB to UART device, have idea how to conncet it, but since I am not experienced with linux commands, I need your support. Once I have information about jtag and bootloader, I will post here the information for discussion.
Best regards
No reset buttom? I forgot the password :(
There's a reset switch underneath the hole on the right of the bottom plate. It can be accessed with a toothpick.
